Kunjum Daivam

 What can I say!

This movie made my heart sing with the innocence and pure kindness it portrayed. The director is Jeo Baby who directed The Great Indian Kitchen and 2 Penkuttikal. He has brought an ordinary story and made it extra ordinary. Child star Adish Praveen plays the character of Joseph who believes that his grandfather who was dead to him, died because of his prayers to God. In order to show repentance for his son, he prays hard and tried to do something that will help another.
Joseph is adorable as the naughty little student who has a mission to accomplish and will go to great lengths to get it done. He is very expressive and looks the part. Really impressive!

This movie is not just about that though. In a discreet way it also portrays how religion plays a role in making gullible people fall prey to in demand tactics used to Indo fear in their minds. People who preach about God and goodness are seen to hide their true selfish side. No one actually is there to help, all are interested in caste, religion and money matters alone. Good deeds are not a priority, just prayers and chanting is. What every religion teaches is good deeds towards humanity but all this is lost in the race to prove one religion as greater than another. This is a sad fact.

There are a couple of good melodious songs and the story line is simple but it touches a chord. The location and photography is breathtaking, especially the aerial shot at the climax scene. This is a slow moving movie but it is a beautiful watch. A good, clean movie for children too. It goes on to say that everyone can make a difference in someone's life for the better if only we try.
