Joji

Watched the movie Joji on Amazon Prime.

What spectacular locations and brilliant camera work! The actors' performances are beyond par and the story line is extremely gripping. We cannot take our eyes away from the screen! Fahaadh Faasil as Joji outshines everyone, what a natural he is!

This crime thriller is slow paced yet engaging in every way. It does not give away much in the beginning so we really look forward to what the story is leading to. Fahaadh Faasil as Joji shows a great honesty to his character portrayal and is the highlight as he changes his demeanour as the story moves forward. It is an out and out Fahaadh Faasil film but each and everyone else has done an exceptional job. The music is hauntingly beautiful and it creates the apt atmosphere for the story.

The story is all about what levels greed can lead us to. This is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Though the story is known, the location and the characters give a different touch to the narration.
A must watch for sure, especially if you are a huge Fahaadh Faasil fan like I am.

Hidden Figures

 What an amazing movie!

There is so much in this movie that will sadden you and also make you feel inspired. Limits are something that others set for you, but we can achieve great things if we believe we can. This is a story based in true facts. Please don't miss the end where they acquaint us to the real life ladies portrayed in the movie.

This movie takes us to an America where there was segregation based on colour. I cannot imagine how the feeling was being coloured in those days! They had practically been treated as third class persons and and taken away all their dignity. It is really heart breaking to watch all that but also wonderful to see how the women challenge the limits set by others and make a breakthrough. The movie is entertaining and has a message too although it is not preachy.

Performances are excellent and the songs truly melodious and bang on. I loved each and every song! This movie was recommended long back by a friend and it is really a must watch for its amazing storyline.

It is sad that even after all these years, people are differentiated and looked down upon due to their colour and race. Wonder when this will end.

Maara

Watched the Tamil film Maara(2021) which is a remake of the Malayalam film Charlie(2015).

The film stars R. Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath. From the start it is a visually delightful film that is full of colour and creativity. The locations are breath taking and the music is melodious and hummable.
Madhavan is awesome as the wandering soul with a heart of gold. Shraddha looks her part and shares an amazing on screen chemistry with Madhavan.
The artefacts, paintings and the houses all provide an alluring charm to the narration and are a feast for the eyes. The climax brought tears to my eyes.

In the film Charlie, it was Dalquer Salman who stole our hearts and in this film we just cannot stop being mesmerised by Maara played by R. Madhavan. I only wish Madhavan dressed better like Dalquer did in Charlie. This is a film for dreamers, artists and wanderers. This is a story about love and hope. The story is engaging and is like a fairytale taking shape before our eyes. All the characters have a role that they give full justice to. The movie does drag a bit towards the end but yet it is worth the watch. We cannot tell which is better, the original Charlie or Masra as both are worth a watch. They are similar but not the same, if you know what I mean. Just watch both.

Maara is a must watch film. For Madhavan fans, this is unmissable! He is fantastic as always! I loved Shraddha Srinath too. Her attire and accessories too are amazing. So colourful and bohemein! The paintings, sculptures, colourful graffiti, Shraddha's bracelets, dresses and earrings, the background score, Madhavan's smile, all so beautiful!

So final verdict is, you must definitely watch Maara.

It is streaming on Amazon Prime.
